What's Happening in G&T?
April
So far this month, we've begun learning about the process of a formal debate, including the steps, time limits, and what goes into a strong opening statement. Students will be following the A.R.E. format (Assertion, Reasoning, and Evidence) to make their arguments. We also began discussing how to effectively refute an argument made by the opposing team. Our next step is to begin researching, using credible resources, to start building our opening statements for the first debate. Students will engage in several debates throughout the course of this unit.
